A NEW statue, the Dryad and Boer, was to be unveiled next month near the main Post Office in Bromsgrove by Miss United Kingdom Della Dolen. It would mark the pedestrianisation of High Street. The statue was made from an original sculptured by Louis Weingartner who worked for the Bromsgrove Guild in 1892. The modern version was made and presented to the town by Terry Simons a local businessman using original moulds.
BROMSGROVE'S MP Hal Miller called on the health minister to take urgent action to stamp out glue sniffing. He said was a need to look at alternative glues that didn't give off harmful fumes.
RUBERY shopkeeper Mr Piara Singh from Rednal Hill stores vowed to beat the yobs who were making life unbearable for him and his family. He had had windows smashed and racist slogans daubed on his walls. To add to his wops his neighbours complained bitterly when yobs made the guard dogs he bought to for protection bark constantly by banging on his fence. He had also been besieged by a gang of skinheads Now Rubery Labour party was calling on residents to give him support to combat the menace.
