POLICE are warning drivers after two vehicles were broken into at beauty spots near Bromsgrove.

The raids were the latest in a series of thefts of handbags from cars at the Lickey, Clent and Waseley Hills.

A Rubery woman had her handbag stolen from the boot of a Proton car on the Warren Lane car park on the Lickey Hills between 2.30 and 5.20pm on Saturday, April 21.

It contained £40 cash, a hands-free kit for a mobile phone worth £15, reading glasses in a blue case worth £150, and other items including keys, bank cards and store loyalty cards. It is believed that the boot was forced open, causing £250 damage.

Another woman had her handbag stolen from the boot of a Nissan car when a window was smashed on the Uffmore Woods car park on the Clent Hills between 1.45 and 2.45pm, the same day.

Taken from the boot were a cream and green striped shopping bag worth £10, a Radley brown leather handbag, worth £110, a Prada sunglasses case worth £25, a mobile phone worth £150, £150 cash, and other items, including keys and bank cards.

Police have stepped up patrols at the beauty spots, with police and community support officers handing out crime prevention leaflets and reminding motorists to remove valuables from their cars.

Motorists are being urged to leave purses, handbags and other valuables at home or keep them with them, but not to leave them in the vehicle.

Anyone with information should contact Bromsgrove police on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
