Round-up
Building for the future
OLD established Bromsgrove construction company Weaver PLC has taken on eight new employees as the firm continues to prosper.
They are new site managers Steve Tilley and Ian Crawford, while Adrian Savage is a new design and build co-ordinator.
Gareth Bowen joins Weaver's busy estimating department, Carl Yale is a senior surveyor and Jane Ford joins the accounts team as management accountant.
Reinforcing its commitment to training and developing its own workforce, Weaver has also recruited Glen Haywood, aged 21, as a trainee surveyor, and Alice Reynolds, 19, as a trainee site manager.

Steve Hudson, general manager director, said: "Sadly, less than ten per cent of construction companies take on apprentices, but Weaver has always been keen to nurture new talent which, after all, represents the future of our business. We are particularly pleased that Alice has joined us as a new trainee site manager, reinforcing the fact that women are increasingly seeing construction as a rewarding career choice. Weaver has a very healthy order book for 2008 and beyond, with projects gained from both repeat and new customers. In order to service that business we need to be both retaining and recruiting the best people. Since becoming a subsidiary of Norwest Holst, part of VINCI PLC, Weaver is able to offer employees greater career development opportunities than before and we look forward to making further appointments as the year progresses."
