Police awards

WEST Mercia police officers have been honoured at a special awards ceremony, which was held at their headquarters at Hindlip Hall near Worcester. Among the 18 nominees, who mostly work for the CID at Hindlip, were officers from Operation Gemini who confiscated cannabis plants from a property in Barnt Green. Proceedings are still pending. Also praised were officers who brought to book Brian Gillam, the man serving ten years for rape at The Uplands children's home in Blackwell. Detective Chief Superindendent Trevor Albutt said: "I would like to pay tribute to all those nominated for commendations. It once again demonstrates how dedicated the staff of West Mercia Constabulary are."
