AN appeal for witnesses has been launched by police following a road rage incident in Rubery in which a scooter rider was punched.

The victim, a man in his late 30s, overtook a slow-moving red Ford car in Windmill Avenue just before 1.30pm on Monday (April 7).

There was then an altercation between the two parties.

As the rider stopped at the junction of New Road to turn right, the car pulled alongside and the driver got out of his car and punched the rider four or five times to his head - on his helmet - and body before driving off.

The victim was not injured.

The driver is described as a white man, in his 50s, of stocky build, clean shaven, with short hair.

PC Lee Halford, of Rubery Police, said: "The victim has told us there were several witnesses but no-one has come forward. We are appealing for anyone with information to contact us on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
