Time for tea

TEA TIME: Ninety-one-year-old Florence Naish a great grandmother who travelled from Bristol for the event with 60-year-old grandmother Angela Veale, and five-year-old grandson, George Cottrell.

PUPILS at Meadows First School had fun when their grandparents joined them for a cup of tea and a sing song.

The five and six-year-olds designed and coloured the invitations themselves for the event, which is held every year.

Headteacher Pam Townsend said the afternoon gave grandparents the opportunity to spend time with their grandchildren in their school setting, and for pupils to learn about their extended families.

"Grandparents travelled from near and far to share a welcome cup of tea, joined in with singing some old favourites, and had the opportunity to view the newly-opened school building."

"I was delighted it was a tremendous success again this year. Grandparents travelled from near and far to share a welcome cup of tea, joined in with singing some old favourites, and had the opportunity to view the newly-opened school building," she said.

"Education has changed so much since grandparents attended school and it was a golden opportunity for several generations to share their memories of school life."
