PARK proud people can nominate their town's green space for a top national award.

Every town has a park to be proud of and to mark the sixth year of Britain's best park competition, sponsor Briggs & Stratton is calling on Worcestershire residents to put forward the name of their perfect park.

Nine regional finalists will be selected and a panel of respected judges will decide the overall winner. Prizes up for grabs include the coveted title of best park in Britain and a certificate to mark the achievement. In addition the winning park will receive a host of national and regional publicity.

Speaking about the competition, Briggs & Stratton's business development manager Ian Small, said: "This competition aims to find the most attractive, well-maintained, accessible and community-friendly public spaces in the UK, and reward the hard work that goes into maintaining them."

The ultimate winner will go on to compete for the title of Europe's best park also sponsored by Briggs & Stratton, where they will be up against parks located in Germany, France, Sweden, Poland and Italy.

Last year saw Pollok Park, in Scotland, crowned as Europe's best park in a lavish ceremony celebrating the green open space and its facilities.
