FOOTBALL fans are being challenged to a non-stop six hour sponsored football match to raise cash for Meadow Park’s youngsters. The club, with 250 young members, launched an appeal for funds earlier this year to save it from closure. It needs to raise at least £200,000 to segregate the field from the LG Harris factory because of health and safety concerns.

BROMSGROVE school children are set to find out if their artwork will be seen by more than two million people. The ‘transport of the future’ competition, run by West Midlands Regional TravelWise Group, asked year seven, eight and nine pupils to design a poster encouraging people to travel in an environmentally friendly way. Entrants will find out if they have been shortlisted at the start of September and the winner will not only win £750 of art supplies for their school and a framed copy of their design, but their artwork will be displayed on buses across the region. Rachel Hooper, sustainable travel officer, said: “The entries we’ve had are both well designed and intelligent. We’re really excited by the competition and very grateful for all the efforts of pupils from Bromsgrove.”
