Our monthly meeting was a celebration of the institute's 71st birthday and friends and guests were invited for an afternoon gathering at Finstall village hall. Glasses of fruit juice and wine were handed to guests on arrival and the meeting opened as usual with Jerusalem.
The minutes of our last meeting were read and the various events to come in the immediate future were brought to the attention of members. Because our entertainer for the afternoon, Margaret Peters, was a little delayed, we then drew the raffle, almost everyone receiving a prize. Mrs Peters' arrival at this point, with her friend and pianist, was greeted with applause and we then got into the party mood with songs old and new. We ended with Rule Britannia in a flourish of Union Jack flags. Then to tea with a magnificent spread of sandwiches, pies, cakes and trifle, all washed down with cups of tea and coffee. The party ended at 5pm and was very much enjoyed. Our next meeting will be our resolutions meeting at 2.30pm in the village hall. The competition is for a photograph of yourself as a child.
