AT the annual spring rally, held at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Bewdley, Blackwell & Burcot WI came fourth overall with their cooperative depiction of this year's theme - Let's party, which celebrates the Worcestershire Federation's 90th birthday.
Their display comprised an octagonal cake with painted panels, showing each decade's fashions since 1918. Pearl made the fruit cake; Beattie Denning almond pasted and made the flat icing and Brenda Fowler painted the panels. This celebration cake was just fantastic and evoked the passage of time in painted pictures through the decades and scored top marks: 20/20.
Also in the display was a knitted evening wrap, a handmade iris-style birthday card, home-made canapes on a bread tray, jewellery made from decorated pumpkin seeds, and of course a bottle of Champagne. The display scored only eight marks less than the winner, in what was a very competitive field.
Dora Sefton-Fiddian, of Blackwell, was highly commended for her flower arrangement, which depicted the same let's party theme.
