AT the meeting on May 1, members were entertained by a lively, witty talk given by Jill Fraser.
Her talk focused on the responsibilities thrust upon the newcomers to the vicarage in a small village near Stratford, even though neither of them was the vicar. She initially trained as a nurse at St Thomas's, progressed via hospital radio and John Craven's Newsround to her current post as a part-time journalist with ITV's The Heart of the Country.
During this time she had gathered so many amusing anecdotes that had happened to her friends and neighbours, that she turned them into a book called More Tea, Less Vicar. She described it as a "faction" - as although all the stories had happened in real life, she had attributed them to fictional characters, so as not to upset the residents of the village. New members will be warmly welcomed at our meetings at 2pm on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Spadesbourne. More information about the U3A is available on 01527 873410.
