The Easter holiday has arrived!

The good news is you get three weeks off uni, you get to go home, see your family or maybe go on holiday, yay! It also involves eating copious amounts of chocolate and definitely not feeling guilty about it.

The bad news... You probably have lots of assignments and, of course, the dreaded task of revision for the exams that have crept up on you come out of nowhere!

Here are my top 5 tips to help you from going insane this Easter.

1. Plan

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Before you start anything you need to make a plan. If you're like me and have so much work to do you don't know where to start, then it's a good idea to make a visual timetable so you make time for each subject. It also gets you into a routine. When you're not at uni it's so easy to get out of a routine, but making a plan for the three-week holiday means you can really utilise your time.

2. Balance

Kidderminster Shuttle:

It's important to make sure you balance your study time and free time throughout each day. I get really distracted by the slightest thing when I'm revising, I'll get some food even when I'm not hungry just because I'm bored, I'll clean my room, or try and help my parents with anything around the house just to avoid revision. But if you take regular breaks, it really makes a difference. This is what I did yesterday (I'm in Dubai at the moment so some activities may differ...)

8.00 Breakfast & shower
9.00 Law revision
10.00 Watched the news
10.30 Worked on my features assignment
11.30 Went for a swim
12.00 Public affairs revision
13.00 Went to a restaurant for lunch
15.30 Law revision
16.30 Read my book
17.00 Worked on my features assignment
18.00 Finished for the day - made dinner with my dad, and went for a walk.

3. Reward yourself

Kidderminster Shuttle:

As silly as this sounds, rewarding yourself will motivate you to do the work. That might be a gummy bear after every paragraph you read, or some chocolate when you can remember 5 cue cards, or getting a take-away for dinner when you've worked really hard all day. (I realise these rewards are all food... Food is sort of my life... I'm sure there are other rewards you can think of!)

4. Change the scenery

Kidderminster Shuttle:

It can be extremely dull and boring if you stay cooped up in one room all day long. In your breaks make sure you are in a different place, I like to have my 'study area' and 'leisure area.' That's why I never revise in my bedroom at home, because my bedroom is my space. It's the place I go to when I want to relax. If I revise in there, first of all is gets super messy in about 5 minutes, second of all I haven't got somewhere to get away from revision!

5. Make the most of your time

Kidderminster Shuttle:

I am terrible for nagging my family not to plan things for holidays when I have exams coming up. But, when I'm on my own actually doing the work I waste so much time doing... nothing. When you've made your plan, make time to see friends, to go out, to enjoy yourself, that way you know you will really work in the allocated revision periods you have set yourself.
