AN event has been held to celebrate the first year of a support scheme for Worcestershire employees.

Worcestershire Works Well is a free accreditation scheme designed to enable local businesses to improve the health and wellbeing of their workforces.

The accreditation looks at promoting good health, smoking and tobacco control, healthy eating, health and safety, mental health and wellbeing, physical activity, alcohol and substance misuse and attendance management and leadership.

During the event, at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, attendees had the opportunity to network, visit stands providing resources for each standard and hear speakers throughout the day, engaging in activities and discussions.

The event was opened by Francis Howie, Director of Public Health, introducing speakers Richard Frost, of Mindful Employer, Jennifer Jones, Harrison Clark, Amanda Wright, Community First, Anita Fletcher and Richard Varley, Worcester Regulatory Services, Harvey Wild and Judith Sinnott, HSE and Richard Waltier, Jobson-James.

There was also an awards presentation for companies that had completed the accreditation and received their certificates.

Dawn Hardman HR manager at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The health and welfare of employees has to be a priority for Worcestershire business owners and managers to ensure motivated and productive staff.

“Worcestershire Works Well is an excellent way of indentifying how supportive you are of your staff and to discover a new initiative where you could support your staff further.”
