A KIDDERMINSTER based vehicle hire firm is providing Wyre Forest road users with life saving safety tips while driving in dark wintery conditions.
Northgate Vehicle Hire, in Stourport Road, has teamed up with the Freight Transport Association to deliver a four-month long Van Excellence winter safety campaign.
The first stage of the campaign, including a six step guide, focuses on road safety whilst driving in the dark after figures show more than 40 per cent of road collisions take place at night.
Colin Gilstin, group safety and environment manager, said: “As the nights are drawing in, now is the perfect time to remind road users of the simple steps they can take to avoid accidents this winter.
“It seems absurd that when there are fewer vehicles on the road, nearly half of all road collisions occur.
“By following our six step guide, road users can reduce the risk of an accident.”
The six step guide urges motorists to be extra vigilant for vulnerable road users, to check their headlights, to watch out for animals, to be courteous with their high beam, to clean their windscreens and to stop if tired.
