A KIDDERMINSTER gym has undergone a transformation to become one of the first clubs in the country to offer ‘virtual classes’.

Bosses at 24/7 Fitness in Foley Business Park launched the new Les Mills Virtual Classes on Saturday following a £100,000 investment in the new technology by the firm.

The virtual gym will allow fitness fanatics to access regular sessions including body pump and body combat, at any time in the week.

Mark Chivers, 24/7 Fitness UK Sales Adviser, said the idea was to ensure people who were unable to make timetabled instructor-led sessions still had access to the classes they wanted.

He said: “They have been designed to enable more of the Kidderminster community to become active and fit, by providing access to fitness classes up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“It works on a similar principle as a standard class timetable, but on a loop system.

“Members and non members would be able to choose which one to attend and turn up accordingly, so the class will go ahead with either one member or 10.

“So, for example, if someone wanted to do a spin class at 3am they could as long as it’s on the timetable for that time.

“We still have our instructor led classes and the virtual sessions complement these and allow people to enjoy and take part in them at times that suit them and fit around their busy lives.”

He added that the Kidderminster site is the company’s flagship club and they will be looking to invest a further £300,000 rolling the virtual scheme at other gyms.
