A NEW bus service will take shoppers to and from a popular garden centre near Droitwich.
From Saturday, some journeys on the 144 route will serve a new bus stop close to the entrance of Webbs of Wychbold.
The amended service will operate from Mondays to Saturdays, with daytime buses running between Worcester, Droitwich and Bromsgrove which serve the centre being renumbered 144A.
Work on the stop, funded by Worcestershire County Council and Webbs and carried out by Ringway, was the result of requests from residents and garden centre staff, supported by Wychavon district councillor Richard Morris.
He said: “I would like to thank the Droitwich Older People's Forum, which first raised the question with me of whether a bus stop could be installed inside the garden centre grounds when I was mayor of Droitwich.
"One of the most satisfying aspects of my role as a councillor is supporting residents in making positive changes, and I’m delighted that people using public transport to access Webbs Garden Centre will now be able to enter and leave the bus close to the garden centre’s entrance.”
