NEXT month Droitwich History and Archaeology Society is hosting an illustrated talk on ‘Tales from the Worcester Royal Infirmary’.
The talk, which is being given by historian Miriam Harvey, will tell the story of Isaac Maddox, who visited Worcester in 1743 as Bishop of London, and realised the need for a hospital in the city.
Visitors to the talk will learn more about when the hospital was built, as well as finding out about the hospital chapel which still be seen on the Worcester skyline above the River Severn.
The talk is taking place on Wednesday, October 1, from 7.30pm in the John Corbett room of Droitwich Community Hall on Heritage Way.
Anyone is welcome to attend, but there is an entry fee of £2 for society members, and £4 for visitors.
For more information on the talk or joining the society, contact the chairman Roy Murphy on 01905 620576 or write to roy.murphy59@gmail.com.
