IT was the week for Macmillan coffee mornings in Droitwich last week with several taking place throughout the town.

The Droitwich Spa Area Forum for Older People arranged a morning at Tea Cups Cafe in Gurneys Lane with cream teas on sale which raised £100.

Jill Edwards from the Forum, said: “It was a lovely sunny morning and people were so generous. It’s such a well known charity and people are so grateful to the Macmillan nurses for the work they do. We find that Droitwich people are very kind and they support these lovely causes.”

Staff and residents at Newland Hurst in New Lane baked cakes and organised a raffle as well as arranging stalls selling plants, handbags and pottery, raising an impressive £120.35 for the charity.

Ali Smith from Newland Hurst, said: “The residents loved it, they really did, and it was quite busy. It’s so nice to be able to raise money for such a worthwhile cause. We all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease.”
