DROITWICH residents are being urged to check and double-check their old lottery tickets after the National Lottery revealed that someone in the Wychavon district is yet to claim more than £50,000 in winnings.

The search is on to track down the owner of the winning ticket, which was bought in the Wychavon district and matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on Wednesday, September 17, winning its owner £51,678.

The winning numbers on that day were 9, 19, 22, 34, 41 and 46 with a bonus ball of 6. The winner has until Monday, March 16, 2015 to claim their prize.

A National Lottery spokesman said: “We’re eager to find the mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings. This amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life. We’re urging everyone who bought a Lotto ticket in this area to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.

“Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa. Someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune. We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win.”

If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the March deadline, then the prize money, and all the interest it has generated, will go back into the National Lottery fund for projects across the UK.

Anyone who believes they might have the winning ticket, should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 9100000.
