A PUPIL from Dodderhill School has been named as the winner of the West Midlands and Worcestershire District Rotary Young Writers Competition.
12-year-old Ffion Brighton who entered the Junior section of the competition, came first with her dark response to the writing prompt ‘What a Difference That Made to my Life’, featuring a young girl who has struck up an unhealthy new friendship.
The Rotary Club’s next young writers’ competition is already underway, and young people are invited to submit stories in prose under the title of ‘Light up the Community’.
The stories should be about the size of an A4 page or 500 words long, and could be about a project in the community or a suggested project, but it must say what the project is or wads, and how it lights up the community.
Entries can be sent in through schools or directly through local Rotary Clubs.
To get hold of an entry form, contact Sandy Laird from Droitwich Spa Rotary Club on 01905 773620.
