MANY Droitwich supermarket shoppers have been suffering in recent weeks while work is undertaken to resurface the car park at Morrison’s supermarket, but one formerly disgruntled shopper has been placated after he voiced his grievances and received a gift voucher for the store.

David Davidson wrote an angry letter to the supermarket, complaining that since half of its car park had been fenced off for several weeks, customers had been flocking to his own preferred nearby supermarket of Aldi to use the free car parking facilities there, and ruining his shopping experience.

He said: “I made it clear that I was writing because I shop in Aldi nearly every day and I am fed up with all the Morrison's customers now clogging up the aisles and filling up the Aldi checkouts, which is true.

“Of course it was a bit tongue in the cheek, however I've now received a response, which indicates that they either don't read their complaints or that the people dealing with them are a bit thick.”

In response a member of staff from the Morrison’s customer services department, appeared to send a stock apology out, saying: “I was most concerned to learn of your disappointment with the service you received on your recent visit to our store. Please accept our sincere apologies for this.

“It is our intention that shopping with us is as enjoyable as possible, coupled with this we aim to offer an exemplary service at all times. It is, therefore, most regrettable that we have let you down on this occasion.

“You can be certain however that this matter has been brought to the attention of the store general manager who will ensure all staff at the store are made aware of your concerns and appropriate action will be taken to prevent any reoccurrence.”

It went on to add that Mr Davidson would be receiving a gift voucher for his trouble.

Mr Davidson added: “Hope my voucher doesn't expire before the car park is finished.”
