POLICE in Droitwich are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a property in the town in which a massive haul of jewellery was stolen.

The incident occurred at some point between 3pm and 5pm on Tuesday, December 9 at an address on Tagwell Road in Droitwich.

The burglar gained entry to the property by smashing a window panel in a door, stealing a large quantity of gold jewellery, much of it featuring precious gemstones.

Overall 40 separate items of jewellery were stolen including a gold and diamond ring, a gold ring with three mounted diamonds, a topaz ring, two topaz necklaces, a pair of topaz earrings, a topaz bracelet, two amethyst gold rings, two amethyst necklaces, an amethyst bracelet, a diamond bracelet, two pairs of sapphire earrings, a sapphire and diamond pendant on a gold chain, sapphire and diamond earrings, a sapphire firestone ring, two pairs of pearl earrings on a twist, a gold wristwatch engraved with a man’s name, three gold chains, three pearl necklaces, three gold rings, one engraved with names and a wedding date, two pairs of Swarovski crystal earrings, two pairs of diamond earrings, two diamond necklaces on gold chains, a single diamond pin, an opal and gold ring, and two pairs of opal earrings.

The burglary has been linked to an earlier incident in Blackfriars Avenue occurring between midday on Friday, November 28 and noon on Sunday, November 30, which saw offenders smash a window pane of the rear door of a property, conducting a systematic search before carefully selecting five items of high quality jewellery, which were then stolen, and another incident in Bainbrigge Avenue.

As part of Operation Fuchsia, West Mercia police officers are patrolling the streets of Droitwich and targeting suspicious behaviour.
