AT approximately 4.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, February 17, a serious injury road traffic collision occurred on the northbound carriageway of the M5 motorway between J6 (Worcester North) and J5 (Droitwich), involving three vehicles.

Six casualties from the collision were taken to the Worcester Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital at Redditch by ambulance, two of them remain in a serious condition.

Motorists were delayed behind the scene as the northbound carriageway remained closed for about three hours and are thanked for their patience.

The diversion route caused congestion around Droitwich for its duration.

Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group assisted by colleagues from West Mercia Police’s Collision Investigation Unit have commenced enquiries into the circumstances.

Witnesses are asked to contact Central Motorway Police Group on 0121 626 1285.
