WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused by roadworks, which have just begun on the A449 at Ombersley.

The work to patch and resurface sections of the north and southbound dual carriageways between Ombersley Bridge and the single carriageway at Hartlebury, began on Monday, February 23 and are scheduled to take 10 days to complete.

Work is being carried out in sections to minimise its impact on traffic with lanes closures on either side of the carriageways, and for the safety of the workforce, traffic is being managed by a convoy system between 9.30am and 3.30pm, and again from 7.30pm to 6am.

A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: "This is routine but essential maintenance work and drivers may wish to take alternative routes to avoid this part of the A449 while it is taking place.

"We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. There may be delays for motorists but we are carrying out the work in sections and operating the convoy system outside of peak traffic times in order to minimise the impact as much as possible."
