DROITWICH Town Council has had something of a shake-up following last week’s election with eight of the 18 councillors stepping down to make way for new blood.

Familiar Conservative faces Tom and Glenise Noyes are returning, as well as recent mayor Bob Brookes, Roy Murphy, Maureen Lawley and Richard Morris, Laurie Evans, Graham Beale, and Alexander Sinton.

Amongst the new councillors, there is only one Labour member Alan Humphries, who was elected from the Droitwich Central ward, while the other 17 councillors are now Conservative, a change from the previous make up of 14 Conservative councillors and four Labour.

Sandy Laird, who is familiar in Droitwich Spa for his work as a trustee of Droitwich Waterways (Pamela May) Trust and as a member of the Rotary Club was elected as a Conservative councillor in Chawson, while Jan Bolton who already represents Droitwich West on the district council is also taking a seat on the town council.

Other new councillors include Christine Bowden, Alan Humphries, Sital Harris, Angela Hawkins, Shaun Best, Catherine Powell, and Allan Roberts.

The newly elected Droitwich Town Council will meet for the first time on Monday, May 18 for the annual council meeting.
