FORMER Worcestershire County Council chairman Pam Davey, has handed over a cheque for more than £1,000 from her fundraising efforts to St Richard’s Hospice.

During her time as chairman Cllr Davey and her husband and consort Alan Davey, hosted a Valentine’s Ball at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.

Guests enjoyed a black tie event along with a casino and draw, all for the local hospice.

The Chairman’s Civic Service in Worcester Cathedral in March also raised money, which was divided evenly between St Richard’s and the Cathedral’s Fabric Fund.

Between the two events £1,365 was raised for the charity.

Cllr Davey said: "I am very pleased to be handing over this cheque to St Richard's Hospice. I know the money raised will be well spent, helping to care for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses."

Alison Parkes, senior fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice, added: “We would like to thank the chairman and all those who supported the charity ball and civic service. Here at St Richard’s Hospice we provide free specialist compassionate care for patients living with life-threatening illnesses and support their families. We are an independent charity and are grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of the community.”
