A NEW branch of the convenience store Spar is set to open on Droitwich Road in Fernhill Heath in the former Halfway House pub building.

The shop, which is being opened this Friday by Wychavon District Council chairman Val Wood, will offer food, newspapers and magazines, as well as housing a branch of Subway and providing a PayPoint National Lottery services, and a free-to-use cash machine.

The store will be giving away hot food and Subway samples, as well as sweets for children, during the opening event, and there will be face painting on offer from 10am to 2pm on Friday, September 4. Flowers will also be presented to the first five customers.

The branch is also creating 26 new full and part-time jobs.

The Spar branch will be open from 6am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 7am to 11pm on Sundays, while the Subway will trade from 7am to 9pm every day.
