AN ice cream farm near Droitwich is hoping to get itself a double scoop of two prestigious awards.

Churchfields Farm in Salwarpe has been named as one of three finalists in the Taste category of the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence.

Judges from the awards sampled a range of different ice cream flavours before making their decision including Worcestershire Plum, Blackberry and Apple Crumble, and classic Vanilla, before interviewing Churchfields director Gillian Kerton.

The farm has also been selected as one of six finalists for the Midlands Family Business of the Year awards, under the Best Small Family Business category, with Gillian and her father Michael Davis, facing a judging panel for the final stage of the selection process, and delivering a 20 minute presentation.

The winner of the Visit Worcestershire awards will be announced on Thursday, October 15 at St Andrew’s House Hotel in Droitwich, while the Family business award will be announced in Leicester on Thursday, November 12.

Commenting on the awards, Gillian said: “It’s great to be shortlisted for one award but to be shortlisted for two is fantastic. Everyone at the farm is very excited – it’s a great boost for staff morale.”
