THERE has been a change of ownership for Dorset House Nursing Home in Droitwich Spa.

The nursing home on Blackfriars Avenue, which cares for elderly residents and people with dementia, was built in 1928, and was run as a residential care home from 1975 by one of the country’s oldest medical charities, RSAS AgeCare.

The home has now been bought up by Rotherwood Healthcare, which currently owns four residential homes in Herefordshire and Shropshire.

Richard Claridge, chief executive of Rotherwood Group, said: “We’re very excited about the take over and plan to add value to the residents over the coming months, such as refurbishing, adding a cinema room, sensory gardens, SKY TV and much more to ensure each resident has the greatest quality of living within the home.

“There will be very little disturbance to the residents and we are confident the standard of care and their daily lives will be nothing but improved as we introduce the Rotherwood standard. We are investors in people and each member of staff will have support from the Rotherwood training division to ensure these standards are met.”

John Fennell, the group’s chief financial officer, added: “The Rotherwood Group will continue to build upon the values we have established in our homes - aiming to be the best and strive for excellence in all aspects of the services we offer.

“I believe we have created a unique offering within the care home sector. We have a proven track record of running excellent rated care homes, along with the expertise of providing industry specific financial support services.”
