A WOMAN from Droitwich is getting ready to hot foot it for charity, by taking part in a terrifying fire walk.
Jemma Philips, who works at Andrew Grant Estate Agents in Droitwich is taking on the challenge to walk across 20 feet of burning embers, at fierce temperatures, to help raise money for Sight Concern, which supports blind and partially sighted people in Worcestershire.
Jemma said: “I’m aware of all the fantastic work Sight Concern Worcestershire does because my mum, a carer, regularly uses its facilities with a client. After seeing the work they do and the support they give people, I really wanted to raise more money from them.”
Anyone over the age of 16 can join Jemma in her challenge, either as a team or as an individual. There is a £30 entry fee on the night, which includes food, and each fire walker is asked to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship for Sight Concern, before they can take part.
Kathy Leather, commercial director of the Bank House Hotel, which is hosted the fire walk, added: “We’re always pleased to support the work of Sight Concern and we hope everyone will join in this fun and challenging event.”
The fire walk will be preceded by a seminar designed to help people overcome their fears, and the evening will also be packed with Halloween-themed family entertainment, face painting, food for spectators and a disco which will run throughout the evening.
