THE Droitwich Spa Foodbank has received a donation of £5,000 to help fund its work in the local community proving food to people in dire need.

The donation was given by the Santander Foundation, which offers grants to charities helping disadvantaged people on a local level, and Droitwich Foodbank, which has been operating since July 2014, received the donation to help provide emergency food parcels to people in a temporary financial crisis.

The money will go toward helping with the charity’s operational costs, and providing advice and support to its clients.

David Stanbury, project leader at Droitwich Spa Foodbank, said: “This is a wonderful donation from the Santander Foundation for our local foodbank. It will help a great deal with meeting our expenses and allow us to continue to help the increasing number of people facing a crisis in our community.”

Maria Grocott, branch manager at Santander’s Droitwich branch, added: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Droitwich Spa Foodbank and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
