A FAILED ram raid left the front of a Wychbold garden centre badly damaged as crooks tried to steal the cash machine.

A red Toyota, with partial registration W171, was driven into the front of Webbs garden centre, Worcester Road, at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, November 28.

The car, which was later discovered to be stolen, was then joined by two other vehicles - a dark-coloured saloon car and Vauxhall Astra van - and three men exited into the shop.

Once inside, the gang targeted the cash machine, but were unsuccessful and fled the scene.

Nothing was taken.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has seen any suspicious activity earlier in the day.

"Please call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting 845s of November 28.”

The garden centre's main doors have been replaced with temporary doors and visitors were being asked to use an alternative door on Thursday morning.

A spokesman for Webbs said: "We can confirm there was an attempted break in at Webbs, Wychbold on the evening of November 28.

"We are fully open as usual - the main store, our Christmas ice rink, grotto and all of our other on-site shops are unaffected by the incident.

"We look forward to helping all of our customers enjoy the lead up to Christmas.”
