BROMSGROVE youngsters have been given a boost after a popular play area at a Bromsgrove park was transformed.
The new-look play area, in Sanders Park off Kidderminster Road, was officially opened by Bromsgrove District Council’s civic head Janice Boswell on Friday, (October 26).
The play area now features exciting play equipment for toddlers, extra swings for all age groups including toddler swings and a basket swing, and seats that can be used by children of all abilities.
There is a new more accessible rubberised safety surface running throughout the site with bright colours and patterns to enhance the sense of fun, along with a grassed picnic area with Purbeck stones for families to use and enjoy.
There is also a brand new mission unit packed with multi-play activities including a small zip wire, climbing units and a trapeze area.
The play area’s transformation cost £95,000. This included £60,000 from Bromsgrove District Council, £20,000 from Worcestershire County Council’s Short Break fund and £15,000 from the Len Giles Trust through Bromsgrove Rotary Club.
Bromsgrove District Councillor Michael Webb, who is responsible for leisure and cultural services, said: “The play area in Sanders Park is one of the busiest areas in the park and the new facilities will provide a fun, safe place for children to play with an improved area for adults too.
“We hope that all the new equipment and accessibility features will mean the play area will be enjoyed by everyone for many years to come.”
