POLICE officers from Redditch and Bromsgrove have received commendations in recognition of their outstanding work.

Awards were presented for a number of reasons, ranging from saving lives to going the extra mile to prevent and detect crimes.

They were handed out a recent ceremony at Police headquarters, near Worcester, by Superintendent Adrian Pass.

Those thanked for their dedication to the job included PC Simon Worley who was awarded a commendation for his work around an investigation into drug dealing in the Oakenshaw area of Redditch.

Also thanked were community support officer Clive Rainbow, PC Sophie Gaffney, PC Rachel Southan, Detective Sergeant Mark Roberts, PC Jan Shelley, Detective Sergeant Steve Cook and Sergeant Sarah Squires, PC Laura Lawson and PC Paul Cook.

Present at the ceremony were a number of dignitaries including the new North Worcestershire Superintendent, Kevin Purcell.

Speaking after the event Superintendent Purcell said: "These are ordinary officers and CSOs who have responded to incidents often in an extraordinary way.”
