Rednal youngsters celebrate Diwali

YOUNGSTERS from a Rednal playgroup have been celebrating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light.
Children from the Stay and Play Group, based at St Stephen’s Church in Edgewood Road, took part in a variety of Diwali-themed craft activities at the playgroup, and listened to a traditional Diwali story.
The emphasis of the story was about being kind and helping other.
Another activity, making Diwali sweets, was designed to encourage youngsters to take turns and share.
The playgroup’s manager, Julie Kite-Lightfoot, said the aim of having the Diwali-themed day was to introduce children of a young age to different religions and cultures.
