THERE are only a few days remaining for residents to submit their views on a plans to make significant changes to Bromsgrove’s electoral map.

The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England is asking people to take part in a consultation on its draft proposals for new district council wards, ward boundaries and ward names.

The eight week consultation closes on January 9.

The commission is recommending there should be 32 councillors, seven fewer than the current arrangements, and a move to a one-member-one-ward system.

Max Caller, the commission’s chairman, said: “We are keen to hear local views about our boundary proposals before we finalise them next year.

“We want to make sure Bromsgrove’s wards reflect the identities and interests of local communities as well as delivering electoral fairness for voters.

“Time is running out to have your say.”

The commission’s full recommendations, as well as interactive maps, are available at consultation.lgbce.org.uk and on the commission’s website lgbce.org.uk.

Copies of the commission’s report and maps have also been made available to view at council buildings and libraries.

Anyone who wishes to make comments or suggestions is asked to write to the commission. The address is The Review Officer (Bromsgrove), Local Government Boundary Commission for England, Layden House, 76-86 Turnmill Street, London, EC1M 5LG.
