BROMSGROVE church leaders, council dignitaries and school pupils will be coming together for the annual service marking Holocaust Memorial Day.

Residents are invited to the event being held on Friday, January 25, at the memorial plaque in Sanders Park, off Kidderminster Road.

The theme for this year's service is Communities Together – Build a Bridge, which is encouraging people to remember those who were betrayed by their neighbours during the Holocaust under Nazi prosecution, and in other genocides.

The service is being led by Bromsgrove District Council’s civic head, Janice Boswell.

She said: “As well as remembering the atrocities which have occurred in history we should also take time to be inspired by people’s bravery during these times.

“Some people risked everything to help their neighbours and we should consider the different communities we belong to and make connections to build a better future together.”

This year’s service is being held an hour earlier than usual, at 11.30am.
