YOUNGSTERS from a Bromsgrove school celebrated the art of storytelling this week.

Millfields First School pupils explored the different ways of telling stories for National Storytelling Week, held between January 26 and February 2.

Children from the Swift Close-based school took part in various activities including drama, role play, poetry and story writing, all based around a film theme.

A storytelling evening was also held at the school with children invited to come along in their pyjamas, ready for an evening story.

The teachers shared the magic of bedtime reading with the children, while parents had the opportunity to visit a book fair and socialise over coffee and cake.

Millfields’ teacher Laura Haines, who organised the evening, said: “We are thrilled by the success of our first storytelling evening and look forward to holding more in the future.

“Storytelling is such a powerful tool to develop the children’s imagination and creativity and this impacts on their own storytelling skills.“
