BROMSGROVE residents are being reminded to have their say on the planned new town railway station.

Worcestershire County Council and Centro are jointly working towards the proposed new station, which would be built 200 yards south of the existing one, on the site of the old Goods Yard.

The four platform station would be connected by a covered footbridge and lifts, and could include a ticket desk, shop, and a 350-space car park.

Full electrification of the line from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove would also enable train companies to increase the frequency of rail services between Bromsgrove and Birmingham.

An exhibition bus visited Bromsgrove in January, with people giving their views on the proposals.

There is still time for residents, businesses and key stakeholders to have their say by either completing a freepost questionnaire, or going online to complete the survey and find out more about the project.

Worcestershire County Council's deputy leader, Councillor Simon Geraghty, said: "The proposed new railway station is a key development for Bromsgrove which I'm sure would significantly improve transport links and be beneficial for residents and businesses alike.

“I would therefore encourage everyone in the local area to contribute to this project at this key stage by giving us your thoughts and feedback on the plans."

Copies of the questionnaire leaflet are available from the council’s hub, in School Drive, or Bromsgrove Library in Stratford Road.

The online survey is available to view at worcestershire.gov.uk/bromsgrovestation.

The consultation period ends on March 17.
