Man appears in court after arson charge

A MAN appeared before Redditch Magistrates today, February 14, charged with arson with intent to endanger life, following the blaze at a Bromsgrove house yesterday.

The fire broke out in a converted loft in a three-storey house in Worcester Road at about 3.45am.

It gutted the loft area, destroyed part of the roof and caused severe smoke damage throughout the property.

Robert Jones, aged 50, of Worcester Road, appeared at Redditch Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody, to appear at Worcester Crown Court on May 21.
