THERE has been a change in command at Redditch and Bromsgrove Sea Cadet Unit.
After five years of leading the young people, Lieutenant Joe Utting has been succeeded in the role of Unit Commanding Officer by Petty Officer Nick Plumley.
Mr Utting said: “I am very proud and honoured to have been in command of such a successful unit over the past five years, and I would like to thank all the staff and cadets for making my time at T.S. Kingfisher so enjoyable.”
Mr Utting will now be moving to a district role, and taking over the deputy district officer’s position from April. The Redditch and Bromsgrove unit has wished him all the best in his new position.
The Sea Cadets is one of Britain’s largest maritime youth charities open to young people aged between 10 and 18. Supporting 14,000 young people, across 400 UK units, it offers a range of nautical adventure activities, all with a naval theme, and aims to challenge young people to help them grow in confidence.
The Sea Cadets are recruiting at the moment. Anyone interested in getting involved in Redditch and Bromsgrove Sea Cadets can call the unit directly on 01527 521385 and leave a message, or they can visit www.sea-cadets.org for more information.
