STAFF and residents at a Bromsgrove care home celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day.

Residents from Breme Care Home, in Providence Road, donned specially decorated green hats and hung up decorations, including shamrocks and leprechauns, to celebrate the patron saint.

There was entertainment from traditional Irish folk music singer David Sanders, and everyone used the luck of the Irish when they took part in a raffle and lottery.

Staff also cooked up an Irish stew, followed by mouth-watering whisky cake.

Leading the celebrations was the home’s activities leader Helen Barron, who moved to England from Kilkenny, in Southern Ireland, in 1988.

She said: “Our residents love themed days and were so excited in the run-up to St Patrick’s Day.

“It was wonderful to teach them about my Irish roots and they lovingly crafted decorations to ensure the home looked the part for our party.”
