Men armed with knives raid Bromsgrove off-license
4:00pm Thursday 21st March 2013 in Local
POLICE are hunting two men armed with knives who robbed an off-license in Bromsgrove.
The two offenders, carrying what appeared to be kitchen knives, went into Wine Cabin, Birmingham Road, just before 9.30pm yesterday, (March 20).
A male member of staff was made to lie on the floor, while the two robbers stole cash, a large quantity of cigarettes, along with the victim’s black iPhone.
The member of staff was not injured.
It is believed the offenders may have run off on foot down an alley leading to Shenstone Close, where they possibly got into a vehicle.
One of the suspects is described as 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins, and of stocky build, while the other was 5ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins tall, and of slim build.
Both were wearing dark clothing and full face balaclavas.
They had what sounded like Eastern Europeans accents, although it is believed these may have been put on in an attempt to disguise their real accents.
Detective Sergeant Jake Wright said: “This was a very frightening incident for the member of staff, who was alone in the store.
“We are still trying to establish exactly what was stolen.
“We are also conducting house-to-house inquiries, and would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious either in Birmingham Road or Shenstone Close.”
DS Wright added police believed there may have been a car, described as similar to a Vauxhall Astra, parked outside the shop at the time of the incident.
The car could have been containing four or five men.
