Bromsgrove nursing home residents evacuated after power cut
9:33am Sunday 18th August 2013 in Local
RESIDENTS have been evacuated from a Bromsgrove nursing home following a power cut.
About 37 people from St John’s Court Nursing Home, St John’s Road, were moved to other premises after about 8.30pm yesterday.
The incident happened after a water pipe leaked, causing a flood in the home, including the electrics room which blew the building's power.
Bromsgrove fire crews and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene to help with the evacuation, stop the water leak and isolate the power.
They left at about 12.30am but more work was being done at the home today.
A spokesman for the fire service said residents could be out of the home for "a couple of days".
