TOWNSFOLK can experience life at a Redcoat military encampment, being set up at a Bromsgrove museum this weekend.
Visitors to Avoncroft Museum, in Redditch Road, Stoke Heath, will be able to watch as troops prepare to do battle during the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.
There will be the chance to experience all the sights and sounds of life in a military camp, including cooking, drills, parades and the punishment of wrongdoers.
Solders and civilians in the camp are available to speak to, providing an opportunity to find out more about uniforms, equipment, weapons and fighting methods.
Each day of the two day event culminates in a skirmish depicting a typical small-scale clash between forces.
Lace Wars prides itself on the accuracy of its living history demonstrations, so is ensuring cooking arrangements are set up as they would have been in the 1740s, including having the same utensils and ingredients that were used by such camps during the Rebellion.
The event is being held at the museum from 10.30am until 5pm, on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1.
