3:40pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in Local
A FUND-RAISING evening of folk and dance is being held at a Stoke Heath open air museum.
Avoncroft Museum, in Redditch Road, is hosting the evening in its buildings and grounds this Friday, September 6, from 6.30pm.
Attractions include the Cuckoo’s Nest barn dance band, whose traditional dances will get the evening off to a flying start in Guesten Hall.
A caller will be on hand to ensure anyone participating will not put a foot wrong.
Singers and songwriters, including Dan Greenaway, will perform at the museum’s Mission Church. Alternatively, visitors can drop into the Cockpit to watch Moseley Village Band.
The main evening performance will be from BarkerBartlett, in the museum’s Guesten Hall.
Acclaimed as some of the brightest talents on the folk scene, accordionist Harriet Bartlett and singer and guitarist Charlie Barker, will be playing a number of Celtic and Americana-inspired songs.
The Edwardian Tearoom will be serving light refreshments throughout the evening and a barbecue will also be available.
All proceeds raised on the evening will be split between the museum and Special Olympics Worcestershire, part of the worldwide Special Olympics movement.
Tickets cost £15 and are available from Avoncroft Museum’s shop or by calling Terry O’Brien on 07930557493.
