Family fun at town care home's summer fete
3:00pm Sunday 8th September 2013 in Local
STAFF and residents at a Bromsgrove care home enjoyed their summer fete which included a variety of fun activities.
The event, at Breme Care Home, in Providence Road, featured a live band, face painting, a raffle, demonstrations from a balloon sculpting artist, and a picnic lunch.
The fete was used as an opportunity to showcase the results of a recent extreme garden makeover. Community volunteers, including from Bromsgrove’s ASDA supermarket and the Sanctuary Maintenance Midlands Team, took part in the project which improved the home’s garden, and made it more suitable for residents’ needs.
Among the work was the creation of raised flowerbeds, painting fence panels, and the introducing of a bench area.
A polytunnel was also built, with a variety of sensory plants enhancing the garden with different smells, sounds and textures.
Denise Clark, the home’s manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the improvements to our garden, which is the result of a lot of hard work from our volunteers.
"We would like to say a massive thanks to those who helped us out.
“We thought what better way to show off our new garden than to hold a day of activities, entertainment and fun for people of all ages.
"Our residents had a wonderful day and it was lovely inviting along friends, family and the local community to join in the fun.”
