A BROMSGROVE church is holding a musical concert as part of the events to celebrate heritage weekend.

Various Worcestershire churches are opening their doors as part of the heritage event, being held this weekend, September 14 and 15.

St John’s Church, Kidderminster Road, is getting involved by holding a special concert.

Bromsgrove violinist Charlotte Moseley and her string quartet, the Virr Quartet, will be holding an afternoon concert on Saturday.

It includes music by Borodin, Mendelssohn, and Piazolla.

All members of the quartet, including Charlotte, are studying at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCB), in Manchester.

They were finalists in the 2013 RNCM Schubert Prize and have recently recorded some electronic transcriptions of well-known classics including Beethoven’s Symphony number 5 and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons for the Warner Brothers record label.

The concert will be in two halves, starting at 5pm, with an interval in which cream teas will be served.

Following the concert there will be a reception where the members of the quartet will be available to chat to.

Tickets cost £10, which are available on the door or from the parish office on 01527 878801.

Accompanied children go free.
