RESIDENTS and staff at St John’s Care Home in Bromsgrove, had a chance to handle some unusual animals last week as part of the home’s activity for World Animal Day.
The company ‘Animals for Parties’ brought in a whole host of furry, scaly and downright creepy animals for residents to handle, from a skunk, to millipedes, a giant cockroach, a tarantula, lizards and a small dog.
Activities co-ordinator Heather Mitchell, said: “The residents absolutely loved it they were all excited, you wouldn’t think they’d like the insects, but they did. Although we had a little dog, and they were not impressed with the little dog.”
The visit was such a hit, the home is hoping to have the animals back in future.
Ms Mitchell added: “The residents are still talking about it. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Their favourites were the lizards believe it or not, and they quite liked the millipede going up their arms. The staff were not so keen.”
