A BROMSGROVE open air museum is holding a festive event by candlelight.

Avoncroft Museum in Redditch Road, Stoke Heath, has organised a Candlelit Christmas and Craft Fair, which is being held from 7pm until 10pm this Saturday, December 7.

Visitors will be welcomed to the museum by Bromsgrove's town crier, Kevin Ward, and can stroll around the site viewing the buildings decorated as they would have been in Tudor and Victorian times.

There will be the chance to learn about how Christmas was celebrated in times gone by, take a ride on the Santa Express miniature railway and view a demonstration of glass bauble blowing.

There are also pony rides, traditional fairground attractions, a Victorian magic lantern show and a planetarium.

Christmas presents will be available from the craft fair, choirs and bands will be performing festive music around the museum, while there will be festive refreshments including a traditional hog roast, hot roast chestnuts, mince pies and mulled wine.

The museum's Edwardian Tea Room will be open for seasonal treats.

Tickets cost £7, £5 for children. Suitable footwear and torches are recommended.

As places are limited it is advised to book in advance by calling 01527 831363. For more details see avoncroft.org.uk.
